At 6'1", Aethia is taller than most of her peers. Her height, along with an often firey temper has marked her out among her peers since childhood.The youngest of the seven children of Edrian, a not-so-successful blacksmith working in Hlint, Aethia was expected just to marry another poor peasant and live a probably short but hopefully happy life. However, an innate magical ability, probably due to some ancient ancestor marrying into a practicer of the arcane, meant that she was forced to leave her home at just 17; Edrian, her mother Gledia and the rest of the prejudiced Gelicnite clan disowned her. This of course might be because while practising her fledging spellcasting abilities, the smithy caught fire. Aethia is naturally drawn to the deity Lucinda, considering that praying to the goddess for help has a better chance than to her parents. With no one to turn to, Aethia resolved that she would prove her parents wrong and show that she could be a daughter to be proud of. She will not cease her adventuring until she has a name worthy enough to return home in triumph. Aethia, while dispising the evil arts and in particular that related to sorcery, possesses something of an unorthodox streak and is more likely to use magic to remove her problems than work round then. This policy has in the past put her in trouble with the authorities. One day hoping to travel away from Mistone to the other lands of which she has heard but never seen, Aethia will continue to act as she thinks fit both to bring glory to her name and to make her world a safer, more peaceful place.
