Aragen
[[imageright:/images/deity-symbols/aragen.png]][dc]T[/dc]he search for and gathering of knowledge of any kind is paramount, both for the benefit of the faithful and for society as a whole. Even the smallest speck of information must be sought out and stored for everyone to see. Only through true enlightenment can balance be achieved. Use violent measures only when absolutely necessary; otherwise, stand out of harm's way, avoiding conflict and collecting as much information as possible. Make sure collected knowledge is archived for the use of others.

_Clergy Favored Weapon and Clothing_:

The favored “weapon” of Aragen’s clerics is the humble quarterstaff or a mage’s staff. Only rarely is a staff used as a weapon, however, as it is usually used as a walking stick when the Aragenite travels to new places to gather information.

Aragenites prefer simple clothing when travelling, as the burden of plate mail slows them down in their pursuit of knowledge, and they tend to avoid conflict when possible, so they usually have no use for the heavy armor anyway. Aragen’s clerics have, however, been trained to wear heavy armor to better protect the knowledge they carry in their earthly bodies.

The clergy of Aragen always carry a notebook to write down the knowledge they gain. The most devout Aragenites will protect this book to the death, to ensure that knowledge is not lost.

_Clergy and Temples_:
The clergy of Aragen serve as the scholars and researchers of society, and if one happens to have a question of some kind they will almost always be ready to answer. There is no clear hierarchy in the temples of Aragen, but each temple has a head scholar who is the only person allowed to write in the [[Libra Prima]], or First Book, of that temple.
[[@Constellation| ]]
_Constellation_:
Definitely the most interesting constellation, [[Aragen's Book]] holds secrets that every astrologer strives to unlock. This constellation has no set number of stars, no specific shape to it, and unknown arcane and divine meanings. It lies in the sky, in what looks to be east to everyone who sees it. Aragen's Book is the ever changing constellation. It never looks the same two nights in a row. Constantly shifting into new symbols and shapes many theories have been made about this constellation. Some believe that these shapes are recording the entire history of Layonara, others believe that they changed when The Lord of Knowledge gains new knowledge, and still others believe it to be a celestial calendar that is marking down the days to some only the gods know.No matter what this constellation means, what it's called, or what it looks like next, Aragen's clerics are far more interested in unlocking its mysteries and recording the shape it will change to next than praying to it.

_Aliases_:
* [[The Wise God]]
* [[The Lord of Knowledge]]

_Race_: [[Human]]

_Alignment_: [[True Neutral]]

_Worshippers_:
There is no race in particular that follows Aragen, though [[Elves]] are most likely to do so since they usually have the patience and lifespan to collect and use information for their god. [[Humans]] also follow Aragen, because learning and collecting information progresses society, and human society is very progress-oriented indeed. [[Half Orcs]] and [[Half Giants]] (and [[Tieflings]], to a lesser degree) are least likely to follow Aragen, because they often care little for knowledge or the benefit of society, rarely have the patience for the required studies and observations, and would rather bash heads than talk. However, anyone willing to devote his or her life to the search for knowledge can worship Aragen.

There seems to have been great activity among the Bearers of Knowledge across the continents in the last few weeks. They looked to have been in a hurry, and could be seen delivering letters to anyone following Aragen, the Lord of Knowledge.

The Bearers’ activity, however, has now returned to what appears to be normal, and the hurried look seems gone from their faces. As of today, the following note can be seen outside of the Aragenite temples:

[i]To the followers of the Wise God, the Lord of Knowledge, Aragen,

All copies of the Libra Prima that resides in our temples have been removed and transported to the Keep of the Tome for safekeeping. They will no longer be updated. The only Libra Prima remaining is the original one, which resides at the Keep of the Tome.
Only those who are dedicated to Knowledge and have proven they can handle the responsibility Knowledge brings will be granted access to the Keep.

May you continue to enlighten the unenlightened,

The Loremaster[/i]
