beryl.pngAlways seek to find and cut the perfect gem. Make it your life’s pursuit to create jewelry and bring beauty and perfection to the world. Do not take unneeded risks, and rely on stealth and wit to keep you safe.

Clergy Favored Weapon and Clothing:
Most clerics of Beryl prefer the mace or the heavy mace, usually together with an enchantment that does not involve Water (although such enchantments are not necessarily forbidden).

When choosing armor, most clerics prefer the fine craftwork of one of their Dwarven allies. They prefer heavy metal armor such as plate or half plate, since this metal came from the Deep Mother’s domain. Most clerics enhance their armors with a resistance to cold.

When not traveling the Deep in search of gems, clerics of Beryl dress outrageously, with a myriad of colors and many piercings showing off different gems from their travels. If they do travel, they tend to cover all jewelry, as moving through the Deep unseen is of prime importance if you want to survive.

They use jewelry consisting of the gems of their rank as focus for their spells.

Clergy and Temples:
Those new to the faith are called “Greenstones,” then as they progress in knowledge and power, they progress in ranks arranged by the rarity of gems (Greenstone, Malachite, Aventurine, Phenelope, Fire Agate, Feldspar, Garnet, Topaz, Alexandrite, Sapphire, Fire Opal, Ruby, Emerald, and Diamond), with diamond being the highest in rank. There is only one cleric at a time who is the Diamond of Beryl, and it is this cleric that heads the faith.

Nearly all of Beryl’s temples are hidden in the Deep Gnome cities in the Deep; however, at least one is known to be on the surface, in the city of Stone on Rilara. Clerics like to pray during the day or next to a light source to enhance the beauty of their precious stones. During prayer, the cleric will often use their focus jewelry to scatter light and color across the wall or temple.

Constellation:
The Deep Mother's constellation looks too many as if it has been neglected by its goddess. Being made up of eleven stars of assorted colors and brightness, the only thing that is constant about this constellation is that seven of it’s stars form a circle and the rest fill it in.

It has been named Beryl's Geode by astronomers and, from what they can tell, moves only in small amounts back and forth across the southern sky. Though it twinkles brilliantly at night, few people look at it as a constellation, rather a group of stars that is just there.

Beryl's Geode has no divine powers as most of Her Perfection’s clerics dwell below the earth, and its arcane meanings, if any, are unknown.

Prayers:
Prayers to Beryl often revolve around gems and jewelry. For example, a jeweler about to start cutting a gem can say: "Allow me to cut the perfect stone for you", or a cleric trying to mine some raw gems from the earth might say "Fiddlesticks, Beryl, just give me one perfect stone."

Layonara NwN Hint: When on a GM quest do not use the labels on top of creatures. If you think your character might know what creature they are seeing ask a permission to identify it from the GM channel.
