LORE Site Development Change Log

  • OneST8 - Thursday, 16 March 2006 03:26 PM
    • Synchronized the Klaatu theme with Legacy changes.
    • Minor bugfixes to the Query page form.
  • OneST8 - Wednesday, 15 March 2006 11:28 PM
    • Query page upates:
      • The query form is now on the results page as well (with query field populated with current query, handles double-quote characters nicely).
      • You can now query straight from the URL address by using "/Query/Your search query goes here"
      • The "Query" link to the top left of the results page now shows the Query as a URL (not as a form submit mashup).
      • Cleaned up the query engine code a bit (nothing special, just removed unused code chunks).
  • OneST8 - Wednesday, 15 March 2006 12:26 AM
    • Camel Case page links now get prettified on view. Gaps inserted and proper capilization of "and", "of", "the" and "which" depending on if it's the first word or not. This affects general page titles too.
  • OneST8 - Monday, 13 March 2006 07:38 PM
    • Bugfix for set_(un)friendly errors.
    • Major bugfix for the character indexing routines.
  • OneST8 - Sunday, 12 March 2006 05:38 PM
  • OneST8 - Saturday, 11 March 2006 09:47 PM
    • Note: This is a bulk update due to my laziness over the past few weeks with maintaining the changelog as changes occurr. Normal changelog posting will resume.
    • Site engine specific work:
      • Refined mode handling and adjusted debugging statements
      • Anonymous visitors no longer require a cookie. Solves some login issues with MSIE.
      • Added a site-lock state that forces the site into a read-only mode where people can browse but no one can edit content.
      • Clarified block list markup help and examples.
      • All scripted html output is XHTML 1.0 strict compliant, includes all wiki markup syntax and blocks
      • Added Block Insert/Delete syntax
      • Bugfix for table CSS syntax
      • Anchor names are now standards compliant (no spaces, only alphanumeric)
      • Implied paragraphs make a return from the land of commented out code
      • Canceled edits now remove locks properly (cancel was being snatched early)
      • Edit-lock state implementd
      • The privileged inherently override Edit-locks (wforceedit)
      • Page bookmarks refined for utf8 and other tweaks
      • Block list processing expanded and refined (works the same)
      • Started writing code documentation stubs (didn't get far at all, it's a big system heh)
    • Layonara specific work: (this is gonna be vague, too many fixes to list 'em all)
      • Accented letters and general unicode/utf8 things should work properly
      • General bugfixes to the parchment folders
      • Editing parchments with quotation marks no longer truncates page titles, better error handling
      • All templates and stylesheets are now XHTML 1.0 strict and CSS 2.0 compliant
      • Many DB optimizations so speed of Server Status and PC pages should be much faster
      • Random NwN load-screen hints are now embeded in the footer of every page (official campaign hints omitted)
      • Complete refactoring of the PC page layouts
      • Updated header with current module version number and link to NWN Change Log
  • orth - Friday, 10 March 2006 07:11:09 PM
    • Last Death no longer includes PK deaths
    • Fixed issue with last death being incorrect due to DB changes with tildes and apostrophes
  • OneST8 - Friday, 03 February 2006 07:39 PM
    • Fixed a bug with the "No Markup" tag.
    • Noticed a bug with the About Markup sub-pages; all of the anchors are not pointing to anything. Fixed in next major update (coming soon).
    • Added a nice Box Markup. I'd link to the anchor but they're not working right now, heh. It's item 5 on the About Markup Blocks page. See my user page for a better example, which is me pasting a random bit of IRC chatlog onto the page.
    • Source pages are not being html escaped. ugh. Fixed in next update.
  • Klaatu - Monday, 30 January 2006 6:00 PM
    • Updated the main theme to match the forum pages.
    • Created a "Klaatu" skin for testing purposes. I will be creating new skins to match all the current forum skins. Hopefully we will soon be able to integrate them into lore.
  • OneST8 - Friday, 27 January 2006 12:25 AM
    • Applied the previous IE link bugfix to the rest of LORE that would have been affected by the flaw. There are still a few places where it may bugger up but all the common places for character links to show up should now be good to go.
  • OneST8 - Thursday, 26 January 2006 11:59 PM
    • More bugfixes for the markup syntax. The focus this time was on header rules and headings.
    • Character source pages are now restricted from public viewing. You can only see your character's source, not even your friends... well unless you're a GM that is.
    • Potentially fixed an Internet Explorer issue with links to PCs who have funky letters (accents, umlats, etc) on the PC and Epic index pages.
  • OneST8 - Thursday, 26 January 2006 04:15 AM
    • Updated character portraits to latest pack.
    • Brought implied paragraphs back into the markup syntax. Pages like Katia don't have the gappy areas that were brought in with the previous round of markup updates.
  • OneST8 - Monday, 23 January 2006 05:59 PM
    • Added a mozilla search widget-thingy. Visit the Query page with any Gecko based browser (Mozilla, Netscape, Firefox, Galeon, Epiphany, etc etc) and you'll see a link "Add LORE Query to your Quick Search!" which will do just that. Enjoy!
  • OneST8 - Sunday, 22 January 2006 11:49 AM
    • Usernames may now contain hyphens. This brings us to the following list of allowed characters in a username: letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens and underscores.
    • Fixed up a few more type-os on the About Markup Syntax and About Markup Links pages.
  • OneST8 - Saturday, 21 January 2006 08:05 AM
    • Fixed the long-standing implied list markup bug where having any of "A", "a", "i", "*" or "1" as the start of your actual item content would result in abnormal sublists.
    • Cleaned up some of the Markup descriptions and usages.
    • Added a new markup tag for highlighting.
    • Markup links now get their name tag set approprately so you can use them as anchor references. This one's hard to explain. If you use the anchor links and want to know more, ask me in IRC or something.
    • Header rules no longer eat more newlines than they're supposed to.
    • Implied paragraphs have been removed.
    • All carriage returns now result in BR tags.
    • The About Markup system has been revamped. Should be easier to use now.
  • OneST8 - Tuesday, 17 January 2006 02:45 PM
    • Fixed a bug with the Query page. (Renamed the button to Query from Search).
  • OneST8 - Tuesday, 17 January 2006 09:05 AM
    • New theme and skin engine... like the look? *grins* Check your LORE Settings (top-left, in brackets next to your username) for the Site Theme and Site Skin options.
    • The forwarding page delay of 3 seconds is now configurable in your LORE Settings.
    • Updated the server status pages to include the Planes server.
    • When you link to a file on the site (like on the Downloads page) LORE will automatically insert the actual file size(s). No, you can't upload yet.
    • The Seach page is now called Query so as to differentiate from the forum's search.
    • Improved error handling and page redirection.
    • Removed all traces of the original search engine.
    • The database tables have been optimized for performance.
    • The database queries have been streamlined to a degree, performance increased.
    • Better support for multiple public cdkeys.
      • You can now view you're character's parchment folders and their contents.
      • You can now edit the parchments in your folders (at no gp cost). Yes, that's right. You get to edit your parchments from within LORE and actually have the changes affected in-game!
      • The edit-boxes used for both Sending PC Messages and for editing parchments uses a new LORE Setting called "Edit Box Size".
  • OneST8 - Sunday, 08 January 2006 03:31 AM
    • Added a new Markup syntax for off-site images ebedded in a page. See About Markup for all the details or visit my personal page and view the source.
  • OneST8 - Saturday, 07 January 2006 09:19 PM
    • Added "number of registered site users" to the footer line with the other two stats (pages and PCs).
    • Implemented a Browser Index which illustrates all the web browsers used by registered LORE users, ranked by number of users.
  • OneST8 - Saturday, 07 January 2006 12:37 PM
    • Added a favicon to the site. Yes it's just a black square with an orange "L" in it. Yes that is what I lovingly call "programmer art".
  • OneST8 - Saturday, 07 January 2006 11:53 AM
    • Fixed a bug with the Profile Index where registered users were not showing up at all.
    • Added a bit of nice info to the footer of every page... shows the total number of content (wiki) and player character pages indexed by LORE.
  • OneST8 - Thursday, 05 January 2006 12:48 AM
    • Gotta love these two-minute features *grins*. So now when you view the Recent changes page, there is now a link to the "Diff" of the current version with it's previous version. Very simple, yet very handy! Enjoy!
  • OneST8 - Thursday, 05 January 2006 12:21 AM
    • Ever had the problem of editing a page at the same time as someone else but not knowing until after you commit and the other person says "hey what happened to my changes?!", well worry no more! When you go to edit a page now it sets the page into a "held" mode where only you can edit it. This mode lasts until you press "Commit" or "Cancel". It's very important to hit one or the other and not just "psuedo-cancel" by clicking another link and going straight to another page. Please note that I will not be a happy camper if I have to make an admin function to "clear some lazy bum's held mode due to lack of consideration for others". When editing a page always leave that page by clicking either Cancel or Commit and you'll have a happy OneST8 instead of a mean and grumpy OneST8! Got that? Good. Now go and enjoy the luxury of "no-conflict-editing"!
  • OneST8 - Wednesday, 04 January 2006 07:24 PM
    • Fixed a bug with the mini status pages where it'd refresh to the full status rather than refreshing the page you're already on.
    • Updated the user profiles page to turn email addresses into links, made the comment a nice wide block space and added in a user URL option that also is turned into a link on the profile page.
  • OneST8 - Tuesday, 03 January 2006 06:19 PM
    • Added a "best viewed with firefox" blurb to the footer in response to the IE bug with certain player character names. See the Known Bugs pages for details of the bug.
  • OneST8 - Tuesday, 03 January 2006 03:34 PM
    • Fixed a wonky cookie expiration bug. If you've had problems logging in and the site logging you out after one page view (usually a forwarding page) you'll be able to login now with no problems.
    • Fixed a bug with bookmarking pages with spaces (using the site's built-in bookmarks, this has nothing to do with your browser's bookmarks).
  • OneST8 - Sunday, 01 January 2006 09:25 PM
    • Revampted the User Prefs page to take the info that was only found in the hover-over tooltips to be displayed directly in the page. Helps ease the confusion as most people didn't bother to hover-over or the hover-over didn't last long enough for it to be helpful.
    • Repaired an issue with the Friends Index where if you had no friends, you saw a chunk of wiki markup rather than the obligatory "you have no new friends" line.
  • OneST8 - Sunday, 01 January 2006 06:41 AM
    • Enhanced the Friends page to show not only who you've marked as a friend, but also who's marked you as a friend.
    • Trimmed all the change log entries from before December 30th. You'll need to display revision number 52 of this page to see all the prior entries. Fixed this change log entry to link to the revision 52.
  • OneST8 - Sunday, 01 January 2006 06:11 AM
    • Implemented the Recent Profiles page.
    • Fixed a bug with invalid usernames during registration.
    • Added a note to the Login page that bascially says "you need a new account unless you've created one here already".
    • Fixed some layout issues on the status pages.
  • OneST8 - Sunday, 01 January 2006 03:51 AM
    • Added "uptime" to the server status pages (it's at the bottom of any of the status pages).
    • Fixed a bug with viewing past versions of characters.
  • OneST8 - Sunday, 01 January 2006 01:54 AM
    • The domain has been changed to "nwn.layonara.com" from "beta.layonara.com".
    • All pages are now publicly visible.
    • Lots of other tweaks I can't remember.
    • Moved Start Here to Welcome and renamed Site Map to Start Here.
  • OneST8 - Saturday, 31 December 2005 06:11 PM
    • Visitors can now register new accounts! Yay!
  • OneST8 - Saturday, 31 December 2005 04:18 PM
    • You can now request your password be sent to your email address when you're logged out and can't remember your password. The form to do so has been added to the Login page. (If you're already logged in you won't be able to get to the form.)
  • OneST8 - Friday, 30 December 2005 09:29 PM
    • You now have the option of hiding the connection between your site account and your characters if you had entered in your Public CD Key. You will still see your full character sheet, however the Server Status page and your character sheet(s) will not link the bioware name to your account nor will your site profile page show the listing of bioware accounts and character information related to your Public CD Keys.
    • You can now mark other site profiles as "friends" of yours. This allows them to see more detail about your character(s). Your friends can see your character(s) General Stats, Feats & Skills as well as your tradeskills (if you have any crafting skills as by default the crafting skills tab is hidden unless there's something to show). You can also see a list of the user profiles you've marked as friends your Friends Index page. To mark someone as friendly or unfriendly, simply visit their profile and you'll see a button giving you one option or the other appropriately. This is only of any practical use if you've set your Public CD Key user preference.
    • Fixed a bug where the "Go" and "Skip" buttons at the bottom of every page wouldn't forward you to the right page, they'd just dump the pages themselves. This causes people to sometimes use the proper url and other times use some mucked up url depending on how they got to the desired page. Basically, one of the design principals of this site is that we hide the "cgi-bin" stuff from the end-users as much as possible. If you want detailed reasoning for this design mandate, ask OneST8 on IRC/ICQ when he's got the time.
    • Also fixed a bug in the bookmarking system where if you change your site preferences (in any way even if unrelated), you'd loose all your bookmarks.
