| C==What is my public CD Key and why do you want it?==
Well ok then! Your public CD Key is a unique identifier that Bioware has included so that module scripters could track players and provide you with nifty things like PvP tracking, Death Tokens, and other such fun things! This CD Key is not your full CD Key by the way, it's just eight letters and/or numbers taken from your original NwN CD Key. There is no way someone could figure out your real CD Key from just these eight characters. Also to note on this is that Layonara already uses your public CD Key but does not advertise it anywhere and only a restricted few actually have access to the information. There is only one place on the entire LORE site where your public CD Key is shown and that's when you're editing your user preferences (which only you can see of course). The following are the site features where your public CD Key is used to provide you with a better and more immersive experince within the Layonara community: * Link your site account with your NwN characters ** View your full character stats and general information, everyone else sees just your general information. ** CD Keys allow the site to show all of your characters (linked to their CharacterIndex page) and the bioware account(s) you use at Layonara with your LORE profile. For example: [[/Profile/OneST8|OneST8]] and [[/Profile/orth|orth]]. ** The ServerStatus pages will link your bioware account names to your site profile instead of linking your bioware name to a search in LORE for that name. ---- C==How to figure out your public CD Key== 1 Find your original NwN CD Key (Key1 of nwncdkey.ini or inside your NwN instruction manual)^{[[#0|0]]}^^{[[#1|1]]}^ 1 Take the first 8 even numbered digits. 1* If your key is:[BR] [H=black,white][NO]12345-ABCDE-12345-ABCDE-12345-ABCDE[/NO][/H] 1* What you want:[BR][H=black,silver]1[/H][H=black,gold]2[/H][H=black,silver]3[/H][H=black,gold]4[/H][H=black,silver]5[/H][H=black,silver]-[/H][H=black,gold]A[/H][H=black,silver]B[/H][H=black,gold]C[/H][H=black,silver]D[/H][H=black,gold]E[/H][H=black,silver]-[/H][H=black,silver]1[/H][H=black,gold]2[/H][H=black,silver]3[/H][H=black,gold]4[/H][H=black,silver]5[/H][H=black,silver]-[/H][H=black,gold]A[/H][H=black,silver][NO]BCDE-12345-ABCDE[/NO][/H] 1* Public CD Key is:[BR][H=black,white]24ACE24A[/H] ^{[[@0|0]]}^: [small]\This is not your Hoards of the Underdark CD Key, nor is it your Shadows of Undrentide CD Key either. This is the stock NwN CD Key. If you've got the Platinum or Gold (or any other shiny delux pack) you want the first CD Key. This is called [q]*Key1*[/q] and you may find the order of the keys is reversed, however they are labeled correctly.\[/small] ^{[[@1|1]]}^: [small]\If you have multiple NWN CD Keys you can put them all in your LORE preferences. Separate them with commas (ie: "24ACE24A,24ACE24B").\[/small] ---- C==How to tell your Public CD Key is working== If you have not created any characters yet, there's no way to know if the Public CD Key is working. However, if you do have a character already and can visit your character's page in LORE then read on... The way to tell if your CD Key is working is to check your LORE Profile page (the \"My Page"\ link at the top of the site). Your profile page will have a listing of the character(s) associated with your profile's Public CD Key. If you do not see your character(s) listed there then please re-visit the above instructions carefully (including points ^{[[#0|0]]}^ and ^{[[#1|1]]}^). If you're still unable to work with your character(s) on LORE after double (and potentially tripple) checking the above instructions then by all means, please make a post on the LORE Bugs forum and OneST8 will do his best to debug the problem at his first available convenience. |
