Zaloko was born in Darthoriadin and lived there for most of his younger life. His main goal was to become a strong ranger like his father. He was given his first bow at a very young age, which ended up bringing him closer to nature. The day had come for Zaloko to learn how to use a bow. The weapon instructor had just handed out arrows to the young elves, and was getting ready to show them how to rest the arrow on the string, when a flash whizzed by the old Wood Elf's head. Zaloko, being one to act before thinking, had already loaded the arrow and pulled back, then let it slip. Missing the target, the arrow flew off the edge of the platform where they were standing. The instructor gave him a mad look and was about to scold him, when a loud, shrill howl was heard from below. Zaloko, now extremely frightened of what he has done, went running to the nearest ladder and nearly flew down it. Charging towards the sound of the now yelping animal, he saw it. The arrow had struck a young wolf pup in the leg, pinning it to the ground. Zaloko, forgetting about the fact the frightened animal might attack, grabbed the arrow and snapped it at the ground, and removed the rest. The whole time the pup had been biting at his hands, which now were coated with blood. The pup went unconscious from the shock of it. Zaloko carried it all the way up the ladder. He then took it into his home and bandaged it's leg as best he could. Still feeling guilty, he rushed to the Temple of Folian S'pae, and prayed for forgiveness. He decided to redeem himself, by caring for the animal. The wolf and him became the best of friends, and were nearly impossible to separate. Zaloko decided to name the pup Zair. This event helped to keep Zaloko's faith in Folian S'pae strong. Spending much of his time with Zair, he explored around the forest all the time. He also never dared to let an arrow fly without knowing its exact course. Zaloko lived peacefully in Ulambree Forest, until a strange event occurred. Coming back from a day of exploring in the forest with Zair, he went to Folian S'pae's shrine in Darthoriadin. Sitting down to pray, as he always tried to do at least once a day, he had a strange experience. He might have drifted off a bit, he was not sure, but he began hearing a low rumbling sound. Now, he opened his eyes, and was looking around seeing dirt, rock, and darkness. For a few seconds, he just sat there, hearing that same noise as before. He must be in a cave, but what was causing that noise he wondered. Also, why was there a breeze going back and forth inside the cave? Within seconds, two horns appeared from within the darkness. The rest of the dragon's head came out from the dark shroud. Now, Zaloko being frightened and confused of what was happening sat frozen to the ground, unable to move. Knowing he was going to die, he closed his eyes in fear of this huge figure before him. Then, oddly enough, it spoke to him. The dragon spoke in a deep growling voice. It said, "Young elf, you are needed to help protect the creatures that are being destroyed by Blood." Zaloko had heard stories of Sinthar Bloodstone from the older Wood Elves. The dragon then spoke of the cruel acts Bloodstone has done and of the destruction he has caused. It then said, "Your skills with a bow and kindness towards creatures will help in our quest." Zaloko then opened his eyes and saw the shrine of Folian S'pae before him. The vision had now faded, leaving him with his heart racing. He now knew what he must do to help out in this world where he lives. No more living a simple peaceful life, now he must find out and fulfill his destiny.
